After losing our chief mouser and ”master of the shadows” Diego, we have decided to adopt a new cat – and today it was time to bring the baby home.
A funny animal, and a first challenge was to answer a friend’s question what it looks like. No point trying – someone has really had fun with the genes here.
If you want to know what it looks like – write down the descriptions of about twenty different cats you know, put the notes in a blender, run it for a minute, then throw the pieces up in the air, and what you see at that very moment…is a pretty accurate description.
The fur pattern is best described as completely and utterly chaotic – no symmetry, no regularity anywhere, and no two of the many different color patches looking even similar. Is it red? Yes. Is it black? Yes! Is it grey? Oh yes. White too? Of course. Stripes? Yapp. Spots? Sure. You name it.
Which also implies that it is a female, by the way.
In sharp contrast to all the cats I ever owned before, this one is a talker – and her vocabulary is just as diverse as the fur pattern. I’ve never heard so many different vocalizations from one and the same cat, especially not on the first day.
Something tells me that this is going to be a really interesting housemate.
